Misr El Kheir Performs More Than 30 Free Surgeries
23 June 2026As part of its ongoing efforts to reach remote border areas and within the framework of its medical convoy project aimed at delivering specialized healthcare services to the most underserved communities, the Misr El Kheir Foundation is launching a surgical convoy at Barrani General Hospital in the Barrani Center of Matrouh Governorate, starting next Tuesday. The initiative will be carried out with the participation of a distinguished team of consultants and anesthesiology staff traveling from Cairo.
Dr. Afaf El-Gohary, Head of the Health Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation, stated that the foundation is always committed to providing surgical procedures and medical treatment to local residents, especially in border regions. She emphasized that the foundation’s presence in Barrani is part of its broader program targeting the most vulnerable areas and helping alleviate the hardships faced by low-income families.
She explained that Barrani was specifically chosen because of its distance from major medical centers. She noted that providing surgical operations for patients is a continuation of the medical convoys recently organized by Misr El Kheir in the Sidi Barrani area, including Qatrani and Nagaa Abu Milad, where patients requiring surgical intervention were identified. The surgeries will be performed over a three-day period at Barrani General Hospital in Matrouh.
Dr. El-Gohary added that this convoy is of particular importance because it represents a specialized activity that is carried out only periodically and requires extensive preparation and coordination. Given its direct impact in delivering advanced surgical services to eligible patients in remote areas, the convoy will perform more than 30 surgeries, including general surgery and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) procedures, all free of charge.
